Even dads like to be pampered

It’s dad’s turn to be in the limelight on Sunday. Here are our picks that are sure to please any manly appetite.

CHAI’S ISLAND BISTRO (Aloha Tower Marketplace, 585-0011) will roll out his special Father’s Day buffet, featuring such entrees as grilled lobster with drawn butter, Mongolian-style lamb chops, braised pork shank and grilled fresh fish. The brunch lineup will include crispy bacon, sausages and scrambled eggs. Cost is $65 for adults and $35 keiki 12 years and younger. Robert Cazimero will entertain diners during brunch, starting at 10:15 show start at 10:15 a.m. Danny Couch takes the stage in the evening, beginning at 5:30.

The Pacific Beach Hotel's OCEANARIUM RESTAURANT (2490 Kalakaua Ave., 921-6111) will offer special menus for Father's Day weekend, June 16 and 17. One of the main highlights will be the “Turducken,” comprised of turkey, duck and chicken, stuffed with cornbread and served with chipotle giblet gravy. The restaurant will also feature 57 other buffet selections on Sunday night (4-10), including lobster-and-longastino bisque, seafood-chicken-and-sausage jambalaya; herb grilled chicken breast with Hamakua mushroom jus; and double stuffed baked potatoes with parmesan crust. The price for the Sunday night buffet is $46.95 for adults, $19.95 for children between the ages of 5 and 11 years old, and free for children ages four and under.

As of press time, THE PINEAPPLE ROOM (Macy's at Ala Moana Center, 3rd Floor 1450 Ala Moana Blvd., 945-6573) still had reservations for its Father’s Day brunch, which costs $47.50 for adults and $23.75 for children 6 to 12 years old. Main action stations will include hand-carved beef top round, corned-beef-and-short-rib risotto, carved Chinese roast duck and pork, made-to-order omelets and Belgian waffles.

Go out in the open seas aboard the Hoku Nai‘a, which provides a full day of dolphin watching and snorkeling in the pristine waters off West Oahu. The ocean excursion runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and departs from Wai'anae Boat Harbor. Kamaaina and military rates are $85.87 for adults and $51.84 for kids 3 to 11 years. Price includes a create-your-own gourmet burger served with all-you-can-drink fruit punch. THE WILLOWS (901 Hausten St ., 952-9200) Father’s Day brunch menu will be served between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at a cost $42.95 for adults and $21.50 for keiki 4-10 years old. The dinner buffet will be priced the same and will be served from 4 to 9 p.m. The buffet’s theme is the “The Hungry Man’s Meat Station,” featuring kiawe-smoked prime rib, rosemary-and-salt-crusted lamb rack, herb-roasted turkey breast, dashi-braised pork belly, short ribs, spicy garlic chicken wings, maple-and-pepper-glazed flank steak and Andouille Sausage.

No father can resist a meal at WOLFGANG’S STEAKHOUSE BY WOLFGANG ZWIENER (Royal Hawaiian Center, 3rd Floor, 922-3600 or www.opentable.com). For $69.95, the set menu starts with an extra thick slice of sizzling Canadian bacon, followed by a 24- 26-ounce, dry-aged, bone-in rib eye with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach, all washed done with a bold glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. All dads will receive a free bottle of old-fashioned steak sauce. This special menu will be available from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The regular brunch, lunch and dinner menus will also be available.
